Meet the Principal

Katrina Wilson began her journey in education in 2006 with the Panama Buena Vista Union School District, serving at Berkshire Elementary as a 6th grade teacher. Ms. Wilson proudly served at Berkshire for 8 years. In 2014, Ms. Wilson moved to Stonecreek Jr. High serving as the Title I Categorical Program Specialist. In this role, she helped transition the school from a Targeted to Schoolwide Title I program. The following year, Ms. Wilson continued her work at Stonecreek Jr. High as the Academic Coach. As Academic Coach, Ms. Wilson brought the STEM based Project Lead the Way program to campus, launching the first Design and Modeling class.  In 2016/17, Ms. Wilson was promoted to the district office, serving as a PBVUSD Curriculum Specialist. During this time, she played a major role in developing a School Improvement Grant for Charles H. Castle Elementary. Later that year, the school was awarded a grant of over 7 million dollars to transition the school into a STEAM Academy. In 2017/2018, Ms. Wilson stepped into her first administrative role with her appointment as  Principal of Charles H. Castle Elementary, where she served for 5 years. While at Castle, Ms. Wilson played a key role in developing systems for school turnaround as well as launching PBVUSD’s first STEAM Academy. Throughout her tenure at Castle, Ms. Wilson participated in the prestigious University of Virginia, Partnership for Leaders in Education program for 3 years, learning best practices for system design and school turnaround.  In 2022/23, Ms. Wilson was appointed to serve as the principal of Stoneceek Jr. High.

Ms. Wilson is the mother of 5 children, all whom attended Stonecreek. As a fellow community member, the culture and program at Stonecreek are very close to her heart. Ms. Wilson believes that Jr. High is an exciting time of transition for students. This is often where they begin exploring interests through electives and start thinking about college and career. It is also where the skills and organization needed for success in High School are first taught. As your child’s principal, Ms. Wilson seeks to cultivate an environment where your children can thrive and discover their passions and interests.
