Stonecreek Junior High School History
Welcome to the home of the sensational, stupendous, “stampedious” Stonecreek Stampede! Established in August 2006, the Stampede continues to pursue its mission “To inspire and equip leaders to enrich our global community.” To fulfill the Stonecreek vision of being a model of educational excellence, our team has worked to develop a positive culture on campus for both students and staff that provides a learning environment where students can thrive. To accomplish this, we seek to develop young adults who are independent, mature, responsible and willing to take on leadership challenges. We also strive to prepare students to be successful in high school, inspire them to explore their future education and career paths, and build a positive network where all students are encouraged and supported.
Our vision is to be recognized as a model of educational excellence. Work towards this vision began in 2006 when we started our AVID Elective program on campus. For an AVID school like Stonecreek, we work to close the opportunity gap by preparing ALL students for college and career readiness. We want all students, regardless of the path they choose after graduating high school, to have as many doors open to them as possible. Since 2006 we extended our program to schoolwide implementation in 2009, became a National Demonstration School in 2012, and an AVID Site of Distinction in 2017. Alongside our AVID program, we also began implementing the PLTW (Project Lead The Way) program which is a collection of STEM-based courses that help open students' minds to different career paths in the sciences, technology, and engineering. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to explore options for their futures, we host multiple career fairs, take students on field trips to local college campuses each year, and provide additional opportunities for other field trips/guest speakers through their courses of interest.
Additionally, we promote a positive school climate with the Stampede Way. The Stampede Way is referenced in all conversations around student behavior. The Stampede Way expectations include being safe, supportive, and self-controlled. Through our use of the Stampede Way, and the other elements of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports), Stonecreek has been recognized as having Gold Level implementation.
The Stonecreek parents and families are essential to the success of our students and we welcome and encourage all parents to attend our many parent events throughout the year, join our regular “Coffee with the Principal” meetings, and support our Parent Club when they can. Through our partnership between parents/families, community, and staff we can ensure all of our students reach their full potential.
